General Informations
Arunachal is a place of serene beauty amply
studded with silver mountain peaks and deep
river valleys. The mighty river Brahmaputra
adorns Arunachal with its splendid silver
beauty. It is a haven to more than 500 rare
species of birds like white winged duck,
sclater monal, Bengal florican etc. There
are 8 wildlife sanctuaries and 2 National
Parks in the state. Pay a visit to Namdapha
National Park, which is unique with
elevation varying from 200 mts. to 4500 mts.
Find rare and endangered species of mammals,
amphibians, reptiles, butterflies etc. in
their natural habitat. Besides, the state
has thousands of species of orchids. Nature
base tourism has special relevance for the
state because of its unique topography,
floral and faunal diversity and idyllic
settings.
Climate
Hot in summer and pleasant in winter in the
foothills. In the hills, it is pleasant in
summer and cold to very cold in winter.
Culture
The evergreen land of Arunachal Pradesh is
home to 26 major tribes and over 60 sub-
tribes. Each of them has distinctive
characteristics in language, dress and
customs. Polygamy is socially sanctioned and
mostly practiced in the state.The people of
Tawang and West Kameng districts follow the
Lamaistic traditions of Mayana Buddhism.
Festivals
Almost all the festivals of this hill state
are linked to agricultural rites, thereby
maintaining harmony with nature and the
environment that they live in. Throughout
the year one or the other tribe celebrates
festivals. Some of the important festivals
are Si-Donyi of Taqins, Reh of Idu Mishmis,
Boori Boot of Hill Miris, Lossar of Monpas,
Tamladu of Taraon and Kaman Mishmis, Oriah
of Wangchos, Nyokum of Nishis, Mopin of
Galos, Dree of Apatanis and Solung of Adis.

Crafts
The unexplored Arunachal Pradesh is perhaps
the best for tribal and cultural tours. The
people have a tradition of artistic
craftsmanship and sense of aesthetics
manifested through the variety of craft such
as weaving, painting, pottery, smithy work
and wood - carving.
