- Mt Kailash -

History

Mount Kailash (6,714 in.) the famed holy peak is situated in western Tibet. This legendary mountain is revered by four different religion and is regarded as the most sacred pilgrimage destination in Asia. Hindus and the Tibetan Buddhists regard Mt. Kailash as the earthly manifestation of Mt. Meru, their spiritual centre of the Universe. On top is the abode of God Shiva, the widely worshipped Hindu God. Sprawling below is the sacred Manasarovar lake, where a drink of its waters washes the sins of a hundred lifetime and a ritual bath delivers a pilgrim to paradise. For the Jams, Kailash is acclaimed as the site where their first prophet achieved enlightenment and for the Bon religion it is the site where its founder Shranab is believed to have descended from heaven.

Health & Altitude Problems

Travelling in Tibet involves high altitude and can be strenuous. Clients with heart and lung problems or blood diseases should consult their doctor before booking trips. Simple headache, fever, loss of appetite or stomach disorders can happen before the acclimatisation. We advice to drink lot of water (about 3-4 liters of Water) per day and not to strain yourself. Clients, under medication should bring their own personal medicians. No special inoculations are required to visit Tibet.

All participants must provide health certificate given by a reputed doctor confirming that the participant is medical fit to travel in altitudes of 5700 meters.
